Sharks: Fin identification
Sharks: Identification of the fins by Pascal Deynat
Summary:
This book provides the reader with a wealth of information on shark systematics and biology and brings together the most recent data on the fin trade. It focuses on the identification of pectoral, dorsal and caudal fins of the 48 most threatened shark species on the 2009 IUCN Red List, to enable international control services to quickly identify fins belonging to the current major groups.
This identification is made through dichotomous keys focused on morphological variations, coloration and skin covering. Each order of sharks is developed according to its CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora), IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) status and according to its geographical range, economic interest and protection status.
