When taking measurements to choose a wetsuit, it's important to follow certain precautions to ensure that the suit fits perfectly and is comfortable.
Here are the precautions to take:
- Use a flexible tape measure, such as a cloth or plastic one, to obtain accurate measurements. A rigid tape measure may not follow body curves correctly.
- Wear lightweight clothing such as a bathing suit or underwear. Avoid bulky clothing that could distort measurements.
- Stand up straight, adopt an upright but natural posture. Don't stand too stiffly or stoop, as this can affect measurements.
Measure key points:
- Chest (X): measure the widest part of the chest, ensuring that the tape measure is horizontal and fits snugly around the body.
- Waist (Z): measure the narrowest part of the waist, usually just above the navel.
- Height (W): measure total height, from top of head to feet, barefoot and against a wall for best accuracy.
Notes :
Special sizes (SHORT and LONG): the table includes “SHORT” and “LONG” sizes for certain measurements (for example, S SHORT = 2S and M LONG = 3L). These special sizes are designed for people with the same chest size but different heights, offering a more personalized fit.
With this information, you can start looking for your Beuchat wetsuits!
Tip: it's always best to try a wetsuit on in a store to check comfort and freedom of movement.
And let's not forget the children, who also need to feel comfortable in their wetsuits to enjoy an exceptional first diving experience.
Like clothing, it's a good idea to take certain precautions when choosing the size of Beuchat booties
- If you wear diving socks or specific undergarments, take their thickness into account when choosing the size of your booties.
- Diving booties are available in different neoprene thicknesses, generally from 3 mm to 7 mm. Choose according to water temperature
- Bend the booties to check their flexibility and make sure they don't restrict your movements.
- Some booties come with non-slip soles to prevent slipping on wet or rocky surfaces. Make sure the booties you choose have this feature, as other models do not.
- In general, choose the same size as your usual shoes.
Neoprene products, such as gloves, balaclavas and booties, serve primarily to maintain body heat by forming an insulating barrier against the cold. A perfect fit is essential to ensure that this barrier is effective. If the product is ill-fitting, there may be gaps where water or cold air can penetrate, compromising thermal protection.
- Make sure the hood blends in well with your wetsuit or other equipment.
- Use a flexible tape measure. Wrap it around the widest part of your head, usually above the eyebrows and ears.
- Measure in centimetres. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight.
- Measure the circumference of your hand. Wrap a tape measure around the widest part of your hand, usually just below the knuckles. Don't measure too tightly.
- Measure the length of your hand. Place a tape measure from the tip of your middle finger to the base of your palm (near the wrist).
- Consult reviews: reviews from other users can give you an idea of how the balaclava or gloves fit in practice.
